Mr Siga Laid to Rest

The Director Operations of the iTaukei Affairs Board, Livai Siga was finally laid to rest at his Island home in Ovalau.

Mr. Siga was escorted for the last time to his village in Nauouo, in the Tikina of Levuka on Saturday, (19/02/22) by his family and work colleagues.

The entourage of mourners was led by His Excellency the President and Turaga na Tui Macuata, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere and the first lady Filomena Katonivere.

Mr Siga’s service to the Government of Fiji started off in 1985 as an Assistant Health Inspector with the Ministry of Health. 

After 15 years with the Health Ministry and becoming the Senior Health Inspector, Mr Siga joined iTaukei Affairs Board as Assistant Roko Tui Lomaiviti in 2000.

His other positions in the Board include, Executive Training Officer, Senior Training Officer, Principal Training Officer, and Acting Director Operations and later became Director Operations in December 2019.

He was described as a very cool, calm and composed person who was always willing to offer his assistance and advice to everyone he knew.

Mr Siga, 56, passed away after a short illness at his residence.

He is a member of the Tokatoka Vunisea, Mataqali Damu and Yavusa Qalivakalou.

He is survived by his wife Rosalini Cavu Siga and four children.

We prays for comfort and peace over family and friends of Mr Siga and may his gentle soul rest in eternal peace.

Mosese Taga started working in the banking industry as a 19 yrs of age and currently enjoying his retirement and supporting community and his village rugby team.  Mr Taga made his debut for the Fiji Rugby (Flying Fijian) during the Rugby World Cup 1987 in New Zealand. He played along side some famous rugby player such as Manasa Qoro and Tomasi Cama.  Upon return, Taga continued to play for the Suva Rugby Unio and Flying Fijians.  His last debut was in 1998 with the Australia at Parramatta Stadium in Sydney.  Mr Taga will be miss with his on and off the field good records and performances.

Ms Karalaini Tubuna wanted to waord alongside his father for the United Nation but that dream was shattered by the vehicle accident along Nabouwalu Highway. With tears running down his face, Mr Tubuna shared that her daughter had a lot of dreams to achieve. Recently completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Climate Change, Ms Tubuna has establish the right path for her Career. Karalaini was the eldest out of four sibling and she was leading by example to be success in life.  Kara was laid to rest on the 21st of November 2020 at the Tamavua Village Cemetery.
