  Celebrating the Life of Mrs Susana Laveti Evening (MOF, JP) Join us this afternoon for her Final Journey and Homegoing Celebration. Mrs Susana Laveti Evening was born on 23 January 1943 in the village of Nukuni, Ono i Lau where she was raised by her maternal grandmother in the Navaka clan of the Turaga na Tui Ono. Her early years were spent in Ono, Bau, Vanuabalavu and Lakeba where she attended primary schools and then to Davuilevu where she attended Lelean Memorial school for her secondary education. Susana then joined the Fiji School of Nursing where she trained to be a nurse. In 1964 she married William Evening and together they had six children, Augustus, Charles, Lorraine, Maraia, Helen and Teresa. She now has 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Mrs Evening joined the Catholic Women’s League in 1968 and has devoted over 50 years of her life in service of women’s empowerment within the church and community. Women's group to support development

  A women group was set up in the early 70's to support the development of villagers around Fiji.  The Soqosoqo Vakamarama ni Yasana o Lau was set up by the former First Lady of Fiji to oversee and monitor development reports been submitted during the Annual Meeting.  The women's group monitor and report developments that were incomplete and mismanage by the development committee. They action help the committee to be inline with they goals.  Date received by the group a also used for developing planning and also show progress report.  Upon celebrating their 50th anniversary, the president reminder the women's on their activities and reason behind their establishment. 

A Great Hero to Fiji Rugby

Former Suva and Fiji Rugby 15s Prop and Captain Mosese Taga was laid to rest on the 8th Feburary 2022. Mosese Taga started working in the banking industry as a 19 yrs of age and currently enjoying his retirement and supporting community and his village rugby team.  Mr Taga made his debut for the Fiji Rugby (Flying Fijian) during the Rugby World Cup 1987 in New Zealand. He played along side some famous rugby player such as Manasa Qoro and Tomasi Cama.  Upon return, Taga continued to play for the Suva Rugby Unio and Flying Fijians.  His last debut was in 1998 with the Australia at Parramatta Stadium in Sydney.  Mr Taga will be miss with his on and off the field good records and performances.
